The waterfall is like a veil of cascading water, with numerous streams of fresh water flowing down like countless drops of white thread.
A 150-meter walk from the parking lot along the promenade along the clear Yugawa River reveals a beautiful view of water cascading down like a veil in a gentle curve, 70 meters wide.
Because there is no river upstream and the water gushes from the bedrock of Mt. Asama, the flow rate is generally constant and the water does not become muddy even after rain, and flows out into the Yugawa River, one of the tributaries of the Chikuma River.
Located at an elevation of 1,260 meters above sea level, the waterfall has a height of about 3 meters.
It is said that the rain that falls on Mt. Asama over a period of six years forms underground water that flows out as a spring, and the water seeping out of the rock surface can be observed at close range.
The contrast between the water and the surrounding grove of trees is beautiful, and the seasonal changes in scenery, such as fresh greenery in spring, sunshine in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snow in winter, make this one of Karuizawa’s most popular tourist attractions.
