Tojinbo is a geologically unique and unusual sight of columnar cliffs of pyroxene andesite that juts out into the Sea of Japan and stretches for more than 1 km.
This large-scale columnar jointed rock formation is rare in the world, and is a very valuable geological site along with Mount Kumgang on the Korean Peninsula and the west coast of Norway in Scandinavia.
It is designated as a national scenic spot and natural monument.
The highest point has a vertical cliff of about 25 meters, and a 4-kilometer long promenade runs along the top of the cliff.
Sightseeing boats operate from just below the cliff, and the view of Tojinbo from the sea is a unique and spectacular experience.
