The hot spring is a quiet and peaceful place with about 30 cozy Japanese-style inns on both sides along the river in the valley.
The inns of Kurokawa Onsenkyo and the landscape of the satoyama are all combined into a single inn, and the townscape has a warm, rural atmosphere that will make you feel relaxed and at home.
Visitors can tour three open-air baths using a bathing pass made of slices of local cypress.
In winter, the “Yuakari” festival is lit up with bamboo lanterns, creating a fantastic atmosphere.
Aso Station” of JR Kyushu Hohi Main Line → Take Kyushu Sanko Bus for “Jetate Onsen Yuki” and get off at “Yu Station” → Transfer to Oguni-go Circulation Bus, etc. and get off at “Kurokawa”.
Kumamoto Station → Take the Trans-Kyushu Bus from Kumamoto Sakura-machi Bus Terminal and get off at “Kurokawa Onsen”.
From Nishitetsu Tenjin Express Bus Terminal or Hakata Bus Terminal, take the Fukuoka - Kurokawa Onsen Route (operated by Kyushu Sanko Bus and Hita Bus) and get off at “Kurokawa Onsen”.
