Nakatsudani Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Nakazaki, Kozagawa Town, Higashimuro District, Wakayama Prefecture. It lies along the Ogawa River, a tributary of the Kozagawa River, and is regarded as one of the most impressive waterfalls in the area.
The waterfall has a total height of approximately 93 meters and descends in seven distinct tiers. Water cascades down the rocky mountainside step by step, creating a powerful and dramatic landscape characteristic of the deep forests of the Kumano region.
However, only the lower three tiers, measuring approximately 45 meters in total, can be seen from the viewpoint below. Even this visible section offers an impressive sight as the water rushes down through the narrow valley.

From National Route 42, follow the road toward the scenic Takinohai area. Just before the Nakazaki Tunnel, turn right onto the old road. Cross Nakazaki Bridge, where you will find the entrance to the walking route leading toward the falls.
Because the waterfall is located in a relatively secluded mountain area, visitors should allow sufficient time for the walk and check weather and trail conditions before setting out.
