Higashi-Osaka, where manufacturing thrives, is an area overflowing with humanity that retains a downtown atmosphere. Famous konamono (flour based food) stores such as takoyaki and okonomiyaki line every street corner, and there is a wide variety of restaurants and taverns.
Higashi-Osaka offers tourist attractions such as Mt. Ikoma, Kyuhoji Green and Ryotaro Shiba Memorial Museum, tourist events such as Tokaebisu, Setsubun Festival, Eco, Festa, and local delicacies such as okonomiyaki, takoyaki and sake lees soup.
Higashi-Osaka City is located in the Nakakawachi region of Osaka Prefecture. It is also famous as a rugby town with the Kintetsu Hanazono Rugby Stadium. In ancient times, the city was home to the Monobe clan, and the Koya Kaido road leading to Ikoma was built in the area.
Kitakawachi used to be the northern part of Kawachi in the old days. The Kyo Kaido (Kyoto Highway) and the Higashi-Koya Kaido (East Koya Highway), which led to Kyoto in ancient times, passed through this area, and it was a relay point connecting the two roads.
This area also has many historic sites dating back to the Old Stone Age, such as stone tools, and works of literature known as Kawachi literature, such as Matsuo Basho's, were born in this area. In general, there are many historic sites from the old days in this area, including Senteji Temple, Ishikiri-tsurugi Shrine, the Married Couple Tomb, and Gensei-ji Temple, and the Married Couple Tomb is a designated cultural asset with high archaeological value.

As for gourmet foods, Higashi-Osaka has been influenced by Osaka's famous "kuidaore," or "gourmet food-fest," and there are many standard Osaka foods such as takoyaki (octopus dumplings) and kushikatsu (deep-fried skewered pork cutlets). This is due to the fact that House Foods is headquartered in Higashi-Osaka and that the shape of curry bread is similar to a rugby ball. It is a must-have product when visiting Higashiosaka.
To the east of this area is Ikoma Park, which offers a panoramic view of the Osaka Plain, and Ikoma Mountain Amusement Park, one of the most popular places for couples and children, is close enough in distance that it would be a must-stop play spot if you have time.
