Asia & Pacific Trade Center (ATC) is a large-scale multi-purpose complex located on Sakishima in Suminoe Ward, Osaka City. The complex consists of two main buildings, the O’s Building and the ITM Building, and is widely known as Osaka Nanko ATC.
Combining business, shopping, dining, entertainment, and leisure facilities, ATC is one of the landmarks of the Osaka Nanko waterfront and attracts a wide range of visitors.
ATC brings together a variety of facilities, including business support services, an outlet shopping mall, offices, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Located directly beside the sea, it is also a pleasant place to enjoy the waterfront scenery and beautiful sunsets.
Signs featuring “I ♡ NANKO” can be found throughout the complex, reflecting the connection between ATC and the Nanko area.
When the complex was originally developed, it was envisioned as a trade center where domestic and international wholesalers, trading companies, and specialist trading firms could import, process, display, and sell goods without paying customs duties under the intended trade-center framework.
The complex also offered meeting rooms and other business support facilities, making it an important base for commercial activities.
ATC includes an outlet mall and halls where a variety of events are held, making the complex a destination for both shopping and leisure.
The seaside boardwalk and Umi-e-ru Square are particularly popular areas for taking a stroll, enjoying the waterfront atmosphere, or simply relaxing by the sea.
The O’s Building contains a variety of restaurants and entertainment facilities. Music concerts and seasonal events are also held here throughout the year.
The seaside boardwalk is one of the most appealing features of this area, while Umi-e-ru Square provides a spacious setting for relaxing and enjoying the waterfront.
ATC Hall hosts a wide range of events, including trade fairs, character exhibitions for children, and professional boxing events.
The venue includes several event spaces, such as Hall A, Hall B, and Hall C, allowing it to accommodate events of different sizes and purposes.
The ITM Building houses a ferry terminal, post office, major retail stores, and other facilities.
The Osaka Nanko Terminal for the Sunflower ferry is also located here, providing ferry services to destinations including Beppu and Shibushi.
The building also includes the Osaka City Consumer Center and showrooms for welfare-related companies, giving the complex a wide range of functions beyond shopping and tourism.
Located on the fifth floor, ATC Asobi Mare is an indoor amusement facility designed primarily for children and families.
With numerous attractions available indoors, it is a popular place for families and is especially convenient on rainy days when outdoor sightseeing may be difficult.
ATC was originally developed by the City of Osaka with a total project cost of approximately 146.5 billion yen. However, high rents and relatively inconvenient transportation from central Osaka made it difficult to attract and retain tenants.
As companies successively withdrew, the facility’s business performance deteriorated, and ATC eventually faced a period of financial difficulty.
In 2004, Minoru Akimoto, a former executive vice president of Itochu Corporation, became president and took part in efforts to rebuild the business.
ATC recorded its first profit in fiscal 2005, and its financial performance subsequently improved. In fiscal 2018, the facility recorded a net profit of approximately 11.93 billion yen and attracted around 7 million visitors annually.
ATC is directly connected to Trade Center-mae Station on the Nanko Port Town Line, making it convenient to reach by public transportation.
The complex is also close to major facilities in the Osaka Nanko area, including the Nanko Cosmo Ferry Terminal and INTEX Osaka, making ATC a convenient base for exploring the waterfront district.
Several major attractions and accommodation facilities are located around ATC, including the Osaka Prefectural Sakishima Government Building, Grand Prince Hotel Osaka Bay, and INTEX Osaka.
The Osaka Prefectural Sakishima Government Building is a prominent high-rise landmark in the Sakishima area. Its observation deck offers panoramic views across Osaka Bay, and it can be reached on foot from ATC.
Grand Prince Hotel Osaka Bay is a luxury hotel located in the Nanko area. It is used by both leisure and business travelers and offers views of the waterfront.
Its location makes it a convenient base for exploring Osaka’s bay area as well as for business trips and leisure stays.
