Mokumoku Farm in Iga is an interactive farm park where visitors can enjoy rural life, experience agriculture, and learn traditional food-making techniques while connecting with nature. The grounds feature restaurants, gardens, accommodation, and a natural hot spring, making it an enjoyable destination for a full day of activities. Visitors can also watch entertaining performances featuring miniature pigs.
Mokumoku Farm is an eco-friendly agricultural park built around three themes: nature, farming, and handmade products. Visitors can follow the production process from raising pigs to making ham and sausages, growing barley to brewing local beer, cultivating rice to preparing Japanese sweets, and growing wheat to producing bread, pasta, and baked goods.
At the various workshops, guests can observe how ingredients are transformed into finished products and take part in hands-on classes. The farm also offers original craft beer and sausages that can be enjoyed on-site, providing a taste of its distinctive farm-to-table philosophy.
Visitors can experience farming throughout the year, including harvesting vegetables, planting rice seedlings, and harvesting rice. These activities offer an opportunity to learn about agriculture and the seasonal rhythms of rural Japan.
A variety of hands-on classes are available, including making sausages, baking bread, and preparing jam. Special seasonal workshops provide additional opportunities to explore traditional food-making techniques.
Guests can meet and interact with animals such as goats, rabbits, and ponies. These activities are especially appealing to families with children and anyone interested in farm life.
The farm has several specialist workshops where visitors can discover how food is made, including a Jersey Milk Workshop, a Ham and Sausage Pavilion, a Local Beer Brewery and Malt Workshop, and a Wheat Workshop. The brewery was the first facility of its kind in the Tokai region, which comprises Aichi, Gifu, and Mie prefectures.
Activities include a handmade sausage class, a Jersey milk bread-baking class using a traditional stone oven, and special workshops offered during particular seasons. Visitors may also be able to join a smoked sausage-making class or participate in strawberry-picking educational activities, depending on the season.
The Small Farm Learning Pasture raises Jersey cattle, sheep, goats, ponies, and other animals. Visitors can also enjoy the miniature pig show and Mini Pig House, visit Tonton Shrine, explore the Straw House and mushroom farm, or relax among the trees in Hammock Forest.
Restaurants throughout the farm serve dishes made with farm-grown produce and other locally sourced ingredients. Barbecue facilities are also available, allowing visitors to enjoy a relaxed outdoor meal.
Dining options include Tomato Café, Mokumoku Rural Cuisine Restaurant, the Roast Pork Pavilion, Buu Buu House, and the PaPa Beer Restaurant, which also offers restaurant wedding services. The Barbecue Beer House is another option for those who want to combine grilled food with the farm’s locally brewed beer.
The farm’s shops offer fresh vegetables and a variety of handmade and processed foods. At the Fresh Vegetable Market and Soybean Tofu Workshop, visitors can purchase agricultural products grown at Mokumoku Farm and by local farmers. The Mokumoku Shop is another place to browse for farm products and souvenirs to take home.
Mokumoku no Yu is a natural hot spring where visitors can unwind after exploring the farm. Surrounded by greenery, it is particularly known for its outdoor baths, which allow guests to relax while enjoying the peaceful natural setting.
Events are held throughout the year, reflecting the changing seasons and agricultural calendar. Spring may bring flower-viewing activities, while summer offers opportunities to observe living creatures in the rice fields. Autumn is celebrated with harvest festivals, and winter brings Christmas-themed events. These seasonal programs provide fresh experiences for repeat visitors.
Mokumoku Farm also offers accommodation, allowing visitors to extend their stay beyond a single day. Guests can combine agricultural activities with an overnight visit and experience aspects of rural Japanese life through a farm-stay-style program. It is an appealing way to slow down, enjoy the countryside, and gain a deeper appreciation of the connection between farming, food, and everyday life.
