Located on the Nakatsu River, a tributary of the Niyodo River, Nakatsu Valley is a beautiful valley with fresh green and autumn leaves.
There is a 2.3 km-long promenade along the blue “Niyodo blue” river, which weaves through large rocks and crosses the river many times on stone bridges.
After about a 20-minute walk, visitors will be close to the beauty of the valley and its odd sights, such as the Momijo Falls, Ryugu Abuchi, and a 20-meter-high stone pillar cut out of the steep bedrock,
The climax of the walk is the Uryu Falls, a 20-meter drop that spurts out in multiple directions, striking you with its mysterious beauty.
Along the way, seven gods of good fortune in various forms welcome you and watch over you.
In autumn, the contrast between the fiery autumn leaves and the clear blue water is spectacular. The falling leaves dancing in the river are also a sight to behold.
At the entrance to Nakatsu Gorge, there is a hot spring hotel, Nakatsu Gorge Yunomori, where you can take a day trip to relax in the open-air bath with the scent of wood and listen to the sound of the river.
