Kasai Waterfront Aquarium

The aquarium is located in Kasai Rinkai Park, a vast park of approximately 80 hectares facing Tokyo Bay.
It holds the record for the largest number of annual visitors to an aquarium in Japan and is the most visited aquarium in eastern Japan.

The building is a glass dome about 30 meters above the ground at the center of the pond.
The entrance is directly under the dome, and the exhibition space extends underground.
The building was designed by Yoshio Taniguchi, who also designed GINZA SIX and other buildings.

The museum houses approximately 650 species of organisms in 47 tanks, including tuna migrating in a large doughnut-shaped tank.

Visitors can see rare creatures collected locally in the polar tanks, and the museum was the first in the world to successfully exhibit nursery fish.

Voyagers of the Oceans
Sharks and rays, such as red hammerhead sharks and tunas, and a group of Japanese eagles are exhibited.

Voyagers of the Oceans (donut-shaped 2,200 t tank)
Exhibits bluefin tuna, smelt, spiny dogfish, yellowfin tuna, white tip sharks, and red hammerhead sharks.
Visitors can relax and enjoy the aqua theater with seating.

Oceans of the World
Exhibits are divided into the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, Deep Sea, Arctic Ocean, and Antarctic Ocean.

Mullet, sea bream, sea cucumbers, ameifurachi, etc. In the touching pool, visitors can touch starfish, sea urchins, and, under various conditions, sharks such as catsharks.

Penguin Ecology
This is one of the world’s largest penguin exhibits, recreating a rocky area close to the penguin habitat. Four species of penguins are kept outdoors: Humboldt penguins, Pacific white-fronted penguins, rockhopper penguins, and fairy penguins.
The Usama and Iwatobi penguins cannot be seen during the summer because they are sensitive to the heat of the Japanese summer.

Seaweed Forest
An exhibit focusing on giant kelp.

Tokyo Sea
Separate exhibits for the Ogasawara Islands, the Izu Islands, and Tokyo Bay. Tamaki Frogfish, sea robins, etc.

Seabird Ecology
