Saku Ichimanri Onsen Hotel

A Hotel Where You Can Enjoy Hot Springs and a Comfortable Stay

Saku Ichimanri Onsen Hotel is a full-service hotel with natural hot spring facilities in Nakagomi, Saku City, Nagano Prefecture. Formerly known as the “Golden Century,” the hotel has long been used by both local residents and visitors to the area.

After undergoing a new chapter of development under the Breezbay Hotel Group, the property reopened with renewed facilities and services. Today, it offers a convenient base for sightseeing, business trips, family stays, and relaxing hot spring getaways in the Saku area.

The History of Saku Ichimanri Onsen Hotel

From Its Founding to Its Heyday

The company behind the hotel was founded in 1967 in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture. In July 1989, its headquarters were relocated to Nakagomi in Saku City, and in December of the same year, Saku Ichimanri Onsen Hotel Golden Century opened.

At the time, the hotel was one of the largest accommodation facilities in Saku. The building had 11 floors above ground and one basement level, with 150 guest rooms and capacity for approximately 350 guests.

The hotel served a wide range of purposes, including tourism, business travel, banquets, and local events. During the fiscal year ending in May 2002, annual sales reached approximately 1.365 billion yen.

Business Difficulties and Closure

Over the following years, competition from large hotel chains in the surrounding area and declining room rates during Japan’s economic downturn put increasing pressure on the business. By the fiscal year ending in May 2019, annual sales had fallen to approximately 764 million yen.

The situation became even more difficult with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The hotel ceased operations on May 4, 2020, and subsequently filed for bankruptcy. Total liabilities were reported at approximately 3.5 billion yen, making it one of the largest corporate failures in Nagano Prefecture at the time.

Reopening Under the Breezbay Hotel Group

The hotel was subsequently acquired, together with its hot spring facilities, by the Breezbay Hotel Group, headquartered in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. The group had already operated the nearby Saku Grand Hotel and sought to combine local partnerships with efficient hotel management.

On April 29, 2021, the property reopened under its current name, Saku Ichimanri Onsen Hotel, beginning a new chapter in its history.
