The Former Shindo Family Residence was the home of the Shindo family, who served as local officials during the late Edo period. The building provides a valuable glimpse into the lifestyle of a prosperous farming family of the time and has been designated as a cultural property by Sodegaura City.
The Manyo Botanical Garden features 105 of approximately 160 plant species mentioned in the Manyoshu, Japan’s oldest surviving anthology of poetry.
Visitors can enjoy the plants while learning about the poems in which they were celebrated, providing a relaxing way to experience the relationship between Japanese literature and nature.
Located at the highest point in the park, the observation deck offers panoramic views over Sodegaura’s beautiful rural landscape. With an elevation difference of approximately 30 meters, it provides an impressive perspective of the surrounding countryside.
The Japanese Iris Garden covers approximately 3,600 square meters and contains around 15,000 iris plants representing 50 varieties.

From JR Sodegaura Station, take a Nitto Kotsu bus bound for the Hirakawa Administrative Center.
Get off at the Sodegaura Koen-mae bus stop, which is located near the park.
