Matsusaka Agricultural Park Bell Farm is a spacious agricultural park covering approximately 23 hectares. Built around the concepts of food education, environmental education, and healthy living, the park features open lawns, ponds, farmland, and beautiful gardens where visitors can enjoy the natural surroundings of Matsusaka.
One of its main attractions is the English Garden, a traditional British-style garden filled with flowers that change with the seasons. The garden is especially beautiful during rose season from May to June, when the blooms create a spectacular display of color and fragrance. It consists of nine distinct areas, including a rose garden and a herb garden, each offering its own atmosphere and botanical highlights.
Visitors can browse a variety of local products at Bell Farm Farmers’ Market, which sells fresh agricultural produce from the surrounding area. Matsusaka Shokai offers regional specialties, souvenirs, and other products associated with Matsusaka, making it a convenient place to find gifts and local treats.
The farmers’ market also houses Yasai Batake, a bakery that uses domestically produced wheat. Visitors can purchase freshly baked bread to enjoy during their visit or take home.
Garden Café Rubel serves homemade gelato, sweets, and lunch dishes featuring plenty of seasonal vegetables. It is an inviting place to take a break while enjoying the garden surroundings.
At Yasai Batake, visitors can enjoy bread made with Japanese-grown wheat. For a heartier meal, Shimakaze Shokudo, specializing in rice cooked in a traditional large cooking pot and hearty soups, serves set meals featuring freshly cooked Mie-grown Koshihikari rice, pork miso soup, and a rotating selection of side dishes.
The park is also a good place to explore the food culture of Mie Prefecture, including the region’s renowned Matsusaka beef and locally grown agricultural products.
Bell Farm offers educational activities that allow visitors to learn about farming, food, and local ingredients. At the Manabi Farm, families can participate in agricultural and food-education experiences designed for parents and children.
The Manabi Workshop in the Takumi-no-Yakata facility hosts hands-on classes using local ingredients, including sweet-making experiences. Popular activities include preparing tarts and daifuku rice cakes with seasonal fruits and ingredients, making soap with herbs from the English Garden, and creating pizzas topped with Matsusaka beef and seasonal vegetables.
Advance reservations are required for these workshops. Reservations for tart and daifuku-making experiences must be made at least five days in advance, while other activities generally require reservations at least three days ahead.
With its colorful seasonal gardens, fresh local produce, regional cuisine, and interactive workshops, Matsusaka Agricultural Park Bell Farm offers something for visitors of different ages and interests. Whether strolling through the English Garden, sampling freshly baked bread, shopping for local specialties, or taking part in a cooking workshop, visitors can experience the connection between nature, agriculture, and food in Matsusaka.
