Doppo Craft Beer is brewed by Miyashita Sake Brewery, a long-established brewery in Okayama Prefecture that was reportedly the first in the Chugoku region of western Japan to begin producing craft beer. Combining traditional brewing expertise with a spirit of innovation, the brewery continues to explore new flavors and styles.
Doppo’s German-style craft beers are made using live yeast and come in a wide variety of regular styles, including Pilsner, Dunkel, Schwarz, Bock, and Weizen. From crisp, refreshing lagers to darker, richer beers and aromatic wheat beers, the lineup offers plenty of choices for different tastes.
With a mission to introduce more people to the enjoyment of craft beer, the brewery also develops limited-edition varieties featuring distinctive ingredients. These include beers made with Okayama’s locally grown fruits and purple sweet potatoes, as well as creations enhanced with chocolate flavors.
One particularly unusual offering is Sparkling Beer, brewed using champagne yeast. It received the Silver Award at the Japan Craft Beer Selection 2012. Its refreshing acidity and fruity aroma give it a distinctive character, reflecting the brewery’s aim to create a beer especially suited to celebratory toasts.
Doppo Craft Beer brings together the craftsmanship of an established brewery and a constant curiosity for new brewing possibilities. For travelers exploring Okayama’s food and drink culture, sampling one of Doppo’s distinctive beers is a delicious way to experience the region’s creative approach to local brewing.
