Hitachi City is located in the northeastern part of Ibaraki Prefecture, with most of the city area belonging to the former Taga County and part to Kuji County. The city is known as the birthplace of Hitachi, Ltd., a general electronics manufacturer. To avoid confusion between the name of the city and the name of the company, the people of Hitachi refer to the city as Hitachi (Hitachi) and Hitachi Seisakusho (Hitachi) as Nissei.

Takahagi City is located in the northeastern part of Ibaraki Prefecture and prospered as a coal mining town after the Meiji era. Nowadays, the city is mainly engaged in lumber processing. The eastern part of the city faces the Pacific Ocean, the urban area is flat along the coast, and to the west is part of the low Taga Mountains, with the majority of the city's area located in these mountains.
The most famous tourist attraction in Takahagi City is Hananuki Valley. Oku Kuji refers to the upper reaches of the Kuji River in northwestern Ibaraki Prefecture, and is nationally known for scenic spots such as Okuji Gorge and Fukuroda Falls. Fukuroda Falls, one of the three major waterfalls in Japan, is also known as Shikudo Falls, and the sheer force of the water cascading down the great rock face is overwhelming.
