Sapporo Ramen

Miso-based rich ramen, served with butter and sweet corns

The Sapporo-style ramen noodles are said to have been first served at a small food stand in the city after the second world war, in a thick soup made from pork bones. It was originally seasoned with soy sauce, until some customers requested their noodles be served in pork-and-vegetables miso soup. This gained popularity across the city, and became the standard style of Sapporo Ramen. The ramen is often topped with sweet corns, as well as a cube of butter for its fat to help keep the soup hot longer.
