Yaguchi Shrine (Oamishirasato City)

Yaguchi Shrine is located in the Nagata area of Oamishirasato City, Chiba Prefecture, and has long been revered as the guardian shrine of the local community. There are three shrines in Japan officially registered under the name “Yaguchi Shrine,” and this shrine was established as a branch shrine of Konaka Yaguchi Shrine in the Konaka area.

For local residents, Yaguchi Shrine continues to serve as an important place of worship and a center of community traditions.

Deity Enshrined at the Shrine

The principal deity of Yaguchi Shrine is Nitta Yoshioki, a military commander who lived during the Nanboku-chō period (1336–1392), a time of political conflict between the Northern and Southern Imperial Courts.

History of Yaguchi Shrine

The history of Yaguchi Shrine dates back to 1700, during the Genroku era of the Edo period. It was established as a branch of the main shrine in Konaka Village and served as the guardian shrine of Nagata Village.

The branch shrine was originally established in what is now the Tomiya area. Over the centuries, the shrine has continued to develop alongside the surrounding community and remains an important part of local history and religious tradition.
